Exodus 3:13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” (ESV)
I find it interesting how easily we forget things that are important, such as birthdays or anniversaries. We don’t intend to neglect these important days; however, when we are occupied by the mundane things of life, we may make that mistake. The people of Israel were in captivity in Egypt for 430 years, and more than five generations had passed during which all they knew was slavery. They were born into it, raised in it and died in slavery. Can you imagine how hopeless they were, thinking that God had forsaken them?
It is easy to lose hope when things are not going well. When all we see is distress and trouble, we may lose faith and think that God is not near us. However, we need to realize that God has always been there. His name I AM is in present tense. He always IS! He always is listening. He always is loving. He always is patient, and He always is nearby. God has not forgotten you. Don’t falter in your faith. Open your eyes and see the Lord is nearby.
