John 15: 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you. (ESV)
I had a great experience this week. Last Sunday, as I was greeting people, a family walked through the halls whom I had not seen since the pandemic started. Their little child, who was a baby then and now is a toddler, recognized me, and as soon as I bent over, she gave me a hug. No words were said, just a big strong hug. I was so happy, and I hope she was as well because of that encounter. This action made me think how sometimes I wish I could give God a big hug. Also, how I wish I could show Jesus I loved Him. So, these words came to my mind; “If you love…” If we want to show your love for Jesus and the Father, we need to follow and obey the Father’s commandments. It’s not complicated, or hard to understand. When we have no words to show our appreciation for God, show Him! The rich young ruler was loved by Jesus because he obeyed all of God’s commandments since his youth. You will be loved too when you keep His commandments.
