Recipe of Awesomeness

The other night, we dusted off the container of heaven and made what I love more than anything on this earth (other than my wife and family)…homemade ice cream. The only problem was that Whitney sent me to the grocery store, recipe in hand, to find all the ingredients. She even sent me pictures of what each ingredient looks like. That sure was helpful, but the store was out of two key ingredients, so I did what any man would do…I improvised. Sometimes that works out fine, but other times it certainly does not work out too well. I am very thankful my improvisation was successful.

Over the past several weeks, we have all had to improvise. My sister even sent me a meme last night that said, “Most useless purchase of 2019: A 2020 planner.”

Improvisation, Recipes, Adjustments, Transformation.

One Recipe that remains steadfast is the following:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails…
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV)

I think, Whoahhh, love is a bunch of qualities, and similarly to that homemade ice cream recipe, for the end product to be successful, all the ingredients are vitally important. Sometimes we may not totally understand why a certain ingredient is important, but when we put them all together, it provides a Recipe of Awesomeness.

This week, Be Awesome. Strive to be every ingredient of Love. Share these qualities with everyone. Talk about them with your family. Discuss them with your friends. Write a note to at least one person about why you believe they demonstrate love consistently to you.

I love you all.
