How Did He Do It?

find myself not being as patient as I should be. Do you ever have that problem?

I let things get to me and frustrate me. Do you ever do that?

With all the things I see that I need to be doing, I can never seem to get caught up nor feel finished with anything.

I sometimes wonder how Paul learned to live with contentment in all the circumstances of this life.

How did Jesus do it?

Ever notice that when we start to be overwhelmed by life we have a tendency to pile on more? It seems we want to do more or get more to have other things of this world to distract us from the things of this world that are already overwhelming us.

How is that working out for us?

Have you ever noticed how often Jesus sought solitude, time alone with God? He made regular time for that even if it meant staying up late, getting up early, or just walking away. The amazing thing is he took that time without neglecting the duties he had in being here.

Could it be that the time he took to be with God helped him keep his priorities in proper focus?

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Col. 3:1-3)

That focus on God and heavenly things reminded him of the glory he had with the Father and the glory he was headed toward. Having that focus on God will remind us we have the same promise of glory.

That focus made him constantly aware of God’s presence and the reality that he was never alone. That same focus will give us the same assurance.

Overwhelmed by the world? Lift up your eyes and focus on Him from whom comes your help.
