Greetings from Maywood Camp,
We have a large number of our church family at Maywood Camp this week. The camp fatigue is trying to creep in, but we refuse to be defeated. A few minutes ago, I went into the kitchen to pour my morning mug of coffee, and Dewayne was mastering the art of flipping pancakes. I have no idea how he made them so perfectly round, but he did. I asked him to enlighten me about the similarities between flipping pancakes and the kingdom of God.
The following are profound thoughts from Dewayne Spivey:
- Pancakes need to be done inside and out before they are ready to be served. (Kingdom: Anchor to Jesus. Being ready requires constant focus. Let’s all work on making sure we are focusing as much, if not more on the inside of us than the outside.)
- The necessity of being a maser pancake flipper requires balance…one must pay careful attention to all the pancakes at one time, understand when the right time to flip and the right time to simply allow them to sit until the time is right. (Kingdom: God designed the church to function as one with everyone doing their part to ensure personal spiritual growth as well as growth of the entire body of Christ. Some of us need to be drinking our milk daily. Others of us need to be chewing on some meat.)
What are the most important things in your life right now?
Where does Jesus fit into that list?
“Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called TODAY.”
