Conductor

If you live in Helena, you will get stopped by a train…often. Yesterday was one of those days, and I would be the first to go when the red lights stopped flashing and the railroad arm raised. It is rare that I am the first vehicle, and it is even more rare that I get to actually see the train conductor. He was smiling and waving, but being extremely careful as he approached the intersection. He was in total control of thousands of pounds of steel and cargo. He also let everyone, who was waiting, know that he was coming.
Conductors conduct. That’s what they do. I was trying not to be impatient, so I refocused my thoughts to this… we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2Co 10:5 NIV). I had “conductor” on my mind, and I thought, “what does that look like in our world and what does God tell us about how he expects His people to conduct themselves?”

27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. (Phi 1:27 NIV)

15 if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. (1Ti 3:15 NIV)

12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (1Ti 4:12 NIV)

Be a Conductor this week, and TAKE CAPTIVE every thought. Be about the gospel. Be about truth, Be about love, faith, and purity.
