2015 Guys Challenge

Our last trip we took before Honduras was a very important one for all of our teens who were able to attend. “The Give Kids The World Mission Trip” to Florida allowed our teens to see and serve in a way that stretched them both emotionally and spiritually.

The “Give Kids The World Village” in Kissimmee, Florida is a place designed to help those families who have children with life threatening illnesses to have fun and live in a world that is separate from reality. The entire village is handicap accessible and the entire staff are trained to speak to anyone they come into contact with. This is not only good for the kids there, who on a daily basis might be overlooked by those who find it hard or awkward to communicate with them, but also for the adults. The open communication and friendly volunteers help all of the families there to feel like the norm instead of the exception.

Over the week we did many different service activities from operating small rides at the park, to serving dinner and carrying trays for those at dinner and breakfast. Our teens did a fantastic job of engaging with people and making them feel special and loved while they were at “Give Kids The World”.

This is a trip I hope the group continues to make and that everyone gets an opportunity to see and help in a place that has blessed so many who needed it most.
