Family Engaged

Worshipping with you on Sunday was so encouraging. I made a comment about it in the announcements, but I would like to share why.

As the song slides were being flashed across the screen, I heard God’s family singing out and these angelic voices behind me from little girls barely old enough to read. We were all engaged in worship. The prayers offered were so genuine and focused on eternal matters. Thank you for taking us to the throne room of God Himself. As we broke bread TOGETHER and drank that little cup of the fruit of the vine, the family of God was engaged in the cross of Jesus.

I realize this happens every week we come together for worship, but I guess it’s because I’ve been praying a whole lot more lately that we, as a family, will understand more powerfully the Presence of God in each one of our lives and that Satan will be squashed.

When Dewayne began to preach, Bibles were open, IPad Bible Programs were lit up, and pages flipping from one verse to the next were heard throughout the auditorium. I looked up briefly and noticed young and old alike engaged in scripture. The Youth Group has started this thing every week on Wednesday nights as we begin Bible Study. We call it “Bible Check.” I simply ask everyone to hold up their Bibles for a Bible check. Why? Because it’s not about the one person teaching the class or preaching a sermon; it’s about the entire family of God engaged in scripture and letting the enemy KNOW that we are engaged in the principles and promises of God. We intentionally choose not to be distracted with his deceptive schemes. We intentionally Choose God over Sin.

Family, I love you, and I thank you for being a Family Engaged.

12 Moses said to the LORD, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.” 14 The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” 15 Then Moses said to him, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.   Exo 33:12-15
