A few years ago a comedian designed his act around finding things people say and do to show that their intelligence level may not be all that it should be. You know, they show themselves to be “a half bubble off plumb”, “their elevator does quite go all the way to the top”, or “they are a brick shy of a load.”
His sign was only two words which current political correctness forbids me from saying.
The sign has been around a long time. As a matter of fact, words very close to the sign were used in two Psalms. Both Psalms are very similar. In fact, a repetition. They both begin with these words.
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Ps. 14:1 & 53:1)
The rest of each verse tells the reason why they would say such a thing, “They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. (Ps. 14:1 NIV)
They say stupid (oops, I said the word) and foolish things, because they do not want God to have any control of their choices in life.
The next time you are driving in your car, take your focus off your radio or phone and simply notice the things around you. Make particular notice of all the things that are there which no man placed there. Notice the bugs, the birds, the trees, the clouds, the wind, the animals, the sun, the stars, the air, and on and on we could go.
Couple this with the words found in Hebrews, “For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. (Heb. 3:4 NAU)
Then remember you will stand in front of Him one day and give an answer.
