The congregation is currently lead by eight very capable elders.  These men are shepherds of this congregation who's primary interest is the souls of the membership.
Don Bowen has served as an elder at Riverchase since 1991 after serving as deacon since 1980.  He and his wife, Joyce, were part of the original group that came from the Central Church of Christ and started the Riverchase Church of Christ in November of 1979.  Don graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1971 with a degree in chemistry and is now the Director of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Pathology at UAB.  Don and Joyce have three sons, three daughter-in-laws and five grandchildren, all living in Nashville.  If you'd like to contact Don, he can be reached through the church office or via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Adam Creel has served as a Deacon at Riverchase since 2005. During that time, his primary responsibility has been working with the small group ministry. He and his wife Alisa, along with their twin daughters, began attending Riverchase in 1998 when they first relocated to the Birmingham area from Montgomery. Adam graduated from Troy State University in 1987 with a B.S. in Computer Information Science and Accounting. He then went on to receive his MBA from Auburn University in Montgomery in 1997. Adam currently serves as the Director of Technical Services for the Drummond Company.

Adam and Alisa met in high school where they became best friends and have remained so since that time. Alisa is a math teacher at Pelham High School. Adam and Alisa’s daughters, Carol and Crystal, are seniors at Auburn University. In his spare time Adam enjoys flying.

Grover Jackson has served as an elder at Riverchase since 1987 and served as a deacon for a number of years prior.  Grover and his family have been at Riverchase since "day one" - the first Sunday in November, 1979. Grover and his wife, Jo are Realtors with REMAX First Choice in Pelham.  They both graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1971.  They have two sons; Bryan is married to Charlotte and lives in White Hall, Arkansas with their two sons - Christopher and James; Jeff is married to Melissa and lives in Tyler, Texas with their two children - Tyler and Laura.  If you would like to contact Grover, he can reached through the church office or via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Ron Jackson has served as an elder since 2000 after serving as a deacon for several years.  Ron and his wife, Peggy, have been attending Riverchase since 1981.  Ron is a graduate of Alabama Christian (currently known as Faulkner University) - A.A., Harding University - B.A., Abilene Christian University - M.A., and the University of Alabama - J.D.  He has served as  a District Judge in Shelby County since 1991.  Ron and Peggy grew up within 20 miles of each other, but didn't start dating until they were at Abilene Christian.  They were married in 1971 and have one son; Alan, two daughters; Amy and Anna; and one son-in-law; Ray.  Peggy is now a retired school teacher.  In his spare time, Ron enjoys gardening, reading - and all sports.  If you'd like to contact Ron, he can be reached through the church office or via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Bill Jones and his wife Twyla have been members at Riverchase since 2006. Formerly, they were members of the Homewood Church of Christ where Bill served in several different leadership roles. Bill graduated in 1983 from Auburn University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Beginning as a co-op student in college, Bill has worked  with Alabama Power for 32 years in a variety of jobs. He is currently serving as the Director of Energy Sales & Efficiency Support at the corporate office in Birmingham.

Bill and Twyla began dating while in college and have been married for over 28 years. Their son Jordan, and his wife Annie, live in Tallahassee and attend the Timberlane Church of Christ. Their daughter, Juliana, is a member here at Riverchase.

Tim Parker has served as an Elder at Riverchase since 2000. He and wife, Barbara have been members at Riverchase since 1997. He formerly served as a Deacon at the Broad Street congregation in Phenix City, AL, the Warm Springs Road congregation in Columbus, GA and here at Riverchase.

Tim graduated from Auburn University in 1970 and was employed with Goody Products until taking early retirement. He returned to Auburn graduating in 1997 with a Masters Degree in Education. He taught Career Technology at Thompson High and Riverchase Middle schools and coached baseball at Thompson High School. He currently serves as Director of the Birmingham Campus of Faulkner University.

Tim and Barbara have two children, Candy and Chris, daughter- in-law, Lana and two precious grandsons, Jackson and Logan.

Ron Steen has served as an elder at Riverchase since 1991 after serving as a deacon for several years.  He and his wife, Becky, began attending Riverchase in 1984.  Prior to coming to Riverchase, Ron served as a deacon at two other congregations, and he regularly teaches Bible classes.  He graduated from Auburn University in 1970 with a degree in Electrical Engineering and currently works for AT&T.  Ron and Becky have a married son and married daughter and four beautiful grandchildren.  When time allows, Ron enjoys his hobby of photography.  If you’d like to contact Ron, he can be reached through the church office or via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Frank and Pam Wampol placed membership at Riverchase in 2002. Frank and Pam previously worshiped at the Center Point and Roebuck Parkway congregations in Alabama where he served as a deacon for 12 years. Frank was baptized into the Lord’s church in 1987. He regularly teaches Bible classes and has a passion for mission work having participated in six mission campaigns to Central America. Frank and Pam were married in 1983 and have three children; Bethanie, Sarah and Trish as well as two sons-in-law and two grandchildren.

A native of Birmingham, Frank attended Samford University as a religion major before enrolling at UAB. Frank completed UAB’s Paramedic program in 1981 retiring after a 27 year career as a firefighter/paramedic. Franks holds a BS in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and an Advanced Certificate in Construction Safety and Health from Georgia Tech. He serves as the corporate safety director for B.L.Harbert International and enjoys a variety of sports including running half-marathons and marathons.
